How it all began
How We Met…
We met the way all the cool kids do these days… online. We met for drinks at Dragonfly in New Center, chatting for nearly three hours. Just as we had paid the check and got up to leave, the rain went from a light drizzle to a torrential downpour, and we looked at each other and said “maybe one more drink until the rain lightens up”, which quickly turned into dinner and talking for another 2 hours until the bar was closing (and well past when the rain had stopped). From the very start it was clear we shared a lot of passions in life. Our love for adventures, travel, sports, and food were just the start.
How He Proposed…
Eric gathered a whole bunch of things that he knew Kate would love - a little “love fern” plant (rom-com movie reference IYKYK), all her favorite items from Taco Bell PLUS an extra taco for Rufus, a card with all the things he loved about her (he wrote it out in the card since he figured Kate would realize what was happening before he had a chance to say any of it, which is exactly what happened), and a candle because she is ‘the light of his life.’ He donned his suit (Kate loves men’s suiting) and surprised her at her house. Kate immediately figured out what was going on and before he could get almost any words out, or even set down everything in his arms, she was already crying. In Kate’s kitchen, Eric got down on one knee with the “Marry Me” Taco Bell sauce packet in one hand and the ring in the other, and of course she said yes!
And the rest is history
